Cafe Mambo Announce Paul Oakenfold As Headline Act for ‘Classics In The City’ At York Barbican

Back by popular demand, Cafe Mambo Ibiza lands at the York Barbican on on Saturday 5th August for ‘Classics In The City’ and brings with it a stellar line up of superstar DJ talent.

Taking to the Mambo turntables are legendary names in dance music, Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules, and Danny Rampling, with further sets from Erik Hagleton. Cafe Mambo remains the ultimate sunset destination in Ibiza and is known for bringing together some of the most talented DJs and producers in the world – artists whose influence on the house music scene is undeniable. The Cafe Mambo Ibiza ‘Classics In The City’ event will bring that magic to the UK for one unforgettable night!

This special indoor event will deliver an unmissable atmosphere and showcase some of the most influential and much-loved house music tracks from the past three decades, played by an all-star lineup of DJs. Headlining the event will be the legendary Paul Oakenfold – widely credited as one of the first DJs to ‘discover’ Ibiza and to bring the unique Balearic vibe back to the UK. This moment kickstarted the UK scene which went on to influence dance music across the world. Paul Oakenfold became one of the first true superstar DJs – even producing the likes of U2 and Madonna – and a name which helped steer the sound of Ibiza for years to come. His Cream residencies at Amnesia are the stuff of legend. 

Another huge name joining the lineup is renowned DJ Judge Jules. Jules has played a pivotal role in dance music since the 90’s. Together with Pete Tong, his was the voice of BBC Radio 1 Friday nights helping to steer the weekend clubbing adventures for a nation. His Judgement Sundays night in Ibiza was a must-visit and focal point for the San Antonio club scene for many years. With an encyclopaedic knowledge of dance music, Judge Jules is the perfect choice for ‘Classics In The City’ and will never disappoint.

Danny Rampling sits alongside Paul Oakenfold as one of the first DJs to bring the Balearic sound back to the UK. His Shoom nights became part of clubbing folklore and for an incredible 8 years his Love Groove Dance Party show on BBC Radio 1 was the soundtrack that kept people dancing. Danny Rampling is sure to bring the true classics to York on 5th August.

The York Barbican is the perfect venue for this event, with its state-of-the-art sound system and spacious dance floor. Mambo resident Erik Hagleton will step up to get the Ibiza-loving crowds in the mood for a massive night. The dancefloor will be full of good vibes and incredible tunes.  

In addition to the DJ performances, Cafe Mambo Ibiza ‘Classics In The City’ will feature sensational live performances by Shingai and Julie McKnight. Shingai, known for her powerful vocals on tracks such as Dennis Ferrer’s ‘Hey Hey’ and her energetic stage presence, is set to captivate the audience. Julie McKnight, acclaimed for her soulful voice and unforgettable collaborations such as the classic Kings Of Tomorrow ‘Finally’, will deliver a performance guaranteed to get hands in the air.
